This policy explains what Covert Artisan Ales ("we", "us") collects when you use covertartisanales.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Information you send us. When you use our general, wholesale, press, private event or membership forms, or sign up for our newsletter, we collect what you enter: your name, email, phone number (optional) and message.
- Orders. When you reserve beer or merchandise for pickup, we collect your name, email, phone number (optional), pickup day and any note, plus the items and total.
- Payments. Payments are made on Square's secure checkout page. We never see or store your card number. We keep the order details and Square's order reference.
- Site usage. When a page loads, we record which page it was, when, your device type (phone, tablet or computer), the website that sent you (if any), and an approximate location (city, region and country) worked out from your internet address. We don't store your internet address. A cookie with a random ID (it contains nothing about you) lets us count how many people visit and how often they come back. Visits from search engines and other robots aren't recorded.
- Calls and texts. When you call or text our business number, our phone service (Quo) records the time, your phone number and the messages you send. Calls may be answered by our automated assistant, which writes a short summary and transcript of the call so we can follow up.
- Your age confirmation is remembered in your own browser only and isn't sent to us.
How we use it
- To answer your questions, calls, texts and inquiries.
- To prepare and hand over your orders, and to contact you about them.
- To send our newsletter, only if you signed up for it.
- To understand which pages are useful, so we can improve the site.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with the services that run the site for us:
- Square, which processes payments and order details.
- Quo, our business phone service, which handles calls and texts to our number.
- Fly.io and our database provider, which host the site and its data.
Approximate location is looked up on our own server using the DB-IP database; your internet address isn't sent to anyone for this.
How long we keep it
- Site usage records, and records of calls and texts: about 13 months.
- Messages and form submissions: as long as needed to respond and for our records.
- Orders: as long as needed for our business and tax records.
- Newsletter sign-ups: until you ask to be removed.
Your choices
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we have about you, or to remove you from our newsletter, using our contact form or by phone.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser. The site still works; you'll just be counted as a new visitor.
Text messages
When you text our business number, or give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts (for example about an order or an inquiry), we use your number only to reply to you and send the messages you asked for. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors that help us provide our services, such as our phone service, Quo. All of the categories above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Wholesale accounts and bookkeeping
If your business buys our beer wholesale, we keep your account's orders, invoices and payments so we can deliver, bill you and keep our books. Our website reads these records from our own accounting system, QuickBooks Online by Intuit, and from Fintech, the service that handles invoices and payments between alcohol retailers and suppliers. The website only reads our own company's records: it doesn't change anything in QuickBooks, and only our staff can see them. We never sell this information or use it for marketing, and we keep it as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Age
This site is for people 21 and older, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 21.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
