Sioux Falls Breweries: A Neighborhood Guide
Sioux Falls breweries have multiplied over the last decade, and the city now has about a dozen, spread from downtown to the edges of town. Whether you live here or you're visiting for the weekend, this guide groups Sioux Falls breweries by neighborhood so you can plan a tour that makes sense on a map, plus a few tips from the folks behind the bar at Covert.

Downtown: the walkable cluster
Downtown has the most breweries in one place, and you can walk between most of them along Phillips Avenue and the 8th & Railroad area:
- Severance Brewing Co.
- WoodGrain Brewing Co.
- Remedy Brewing Company
- Fernson Downtown
If you only have one afternoon, downtown is the easy choice: park once, walk the river, and pair your stops with dinner on Phillips.
The west side: Covert Artisan Ales
Head west and you'll find Covert Artisan Ales at 601 S Watson Ave, Suite 100. We're a small, veteran-owned brewery, and our beer leans toward the unusual: fruited sours, hazy IPAs, big imperial stouts, fruited gluten-free beers, and traditional lagers. That focus has earned Covert the highest overall Untappd rating of any Sioux Falls brewery: 4.12 from more than 25,000 ratings (as of October 2026).
The taproom is relaxed and dog-friendly, with pinball, and there's beer to go. Check what's on tap right now before you come, and see this week's hours and directions. We're open Wednesday through Saturday, and we pour a lot of styles you won't find elsewhere in town, so it's a good stop if your crew wants something different from the usual lineup.
Around the rest of town
- Mall District: Altered Species Ales and Granite City Food & Brewery
- Southwest: Big Lost Meadery & Brewery
- South: Look's Beer Co.
- East: WoodGrain's east-side location, and A Homestead Brew in Valley Springs.
- Just northwest of the city: Buffalo Ridge Brewing in Hartford.

Planning a tour of Sioux Falls breweries
- Check hours first. Many taprooms in town open in the afternoon and close early in the week; Covert, for example, is closed Sunday through Tuesday. A quick look at each brewery's site saves a wasted drive.
- Group by neighborhood. Pick downtown on foot, then add one or two stops by car, rather than zigzagging across town.
- Mix it up. Every brewery here has its own focus, from lagers to meads to sours, so try a flight wherever you go.
- Plan your ride. Downtown is walkable; for stops across town, line up a designated driver or a rideshare.
- Take some home. Most taprooms sell cans or bottles to go. At Covert you can order online for pickup and grab it on your way through.
Come find us on the west side
Sioux Falls is a great beer town because every brewery brings something different. If fruited sours, hazy IPAs, imperial stouts or traditional lagers sound like your kind of stop, put Covert on your list. See what's pouring, check our upcoming events, and we'll see you at the bar.
